The goal there was for engineering to build their engineering document, which is a document that outlines the feature itself and the architecture, considerations, and trade offs. Once it got into a good place, we would bring the feature to engineering to get context on how long it would take to build some of the constraints that they might find. Once we got to a good place, we facilitated a user study where we ideated a bunch of questions to ask creators, so there would be sessions where we would present the feature to a creator, ask for their thoughts and feedback, and go back to the drawing board to approve those flows. We would work on prototypes and collaborate using Google’s internal design tools. I would say the majority of my time at YouTube was working really closely with my UX engineer as my partner-in-crime. What was your day-to-day like at YouTube gaming? And then I had the opportunity to rotate as a product manager on YouTube gaming. I knew immediately that I wanted to do PM, so for that first half of the program, for about a year, I was doing IT support in person and remotely. I was initially on a product team working as a test engineer doing automated tests, then joined Google two years after that in their IT residency program, which is a program designed to jumpstart your career in technology at Google or beyond. I was working full-time for six months as a rotator. How did you figure out you wanted to work in product? We talked to a former Google PM about his background, his experience working at YouTube gaming, and his advice for those looking to break into product. ![]() ![]() Now that it’s clear that turkey is a nutritional powerhouse, lets talk about introducing it into our daily lives! My only complaint of this album is that there isn't more, with a relatively short length 36 minutes. This band is pushing the limits on what is possible on their respective instruments, and they are able to showcase this technical genius whilst still creating something that works as a whole. The technical ability showcased on this album should be a lesson to any musician listening. The production on this album is nearly perfection, with thick but clear drum sounds and some incredible guitar tones, with some fantastic chunky humbucker sounds, as well as some great split coil tones, often used for the band's signature thumping technique, pioneered by Tosin and Javier. The album also features tasteful usage of electronic elements, which really blend in with the songs themselves and also the timbres created by the rest of the band. They are album to do all of this whilst still writing memorable songs that are incredibly enjoyable to listen to. The songs combine rhythmically complex, mind bending phrases and sections with some incredibly groovy, heavier meshuggah-esque sections, such as the breakdown in Red Miso. ![]() This is the latest release of Animals, who in my opinion are possibly the most technically proficient band in existence, and that is clearly evident on this album. I defeated the final boss around a year ago and, unlike other games, I find myself still going back to BotW simply to get, well, a breath of the wild. If I want to be in the rainforest, I transport myself there, if I want to go to the desert, I’ll bike it, or I’ll fly it, or I’ll ride my horse there. To see beautiful dragons, enter volcanoes, go snow surfing, or paraglide from cliffs. This is because you can save the game right before any kind of difficult situation, be it just before you lose Rupees when you fail a mini game of golf, or just before you get violently killed by Calamity Ganon. In a similar way, and this is the way that I am always misusing it, Breath of the Wild allows you to cheat. That is to say, if you’re on your very last quarter of a heart container, you can pause it, go into your inventory and consume that delicious Volt-fruit and Durian concoction you were cooking up during one of the Blood moons and replenish all of those 20 lives and you’re back in the game. The game does this in two contrasting ways – firstly, you can pause it any time and leave the area you’re in. It was the first game I had played since Super Mario Bros on my Nintendo DS, and it seemed to have a similar structure: go in, defeat little bosses, get coins, defeat the big boss, don’t die, and rescue the princess. The second one kicked in pretty quickly after I began playing. I purchased The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (and the Nintendo Switch in general) with only the first condition in mind.
